R Ashok mocks RCB as ‘Real Culprits of Bangalore’, demands govt dismissal over stampede
Bengaluru: In a fiery attack on the ruling Congress government following the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede tragedy, Opposition Leader R. Ashok has demanded the complete dismissal of the state government, calling it “incapable” and “inhuman.”
Speaking to reporters, Ashok sarcastically remarked that RCB now stands for “Real Culprits of Bangalore”, accusing the state administration of turning a blind eye to the crowd disaster that claimed 11 lives. His comments have sparked intense political debate.
“This is a miserable government. Should we call it a liquor bottle government or something worse — we don’t even know anymore,” he said. “Here, only 40 of us are protesting, yet over 150 policemen have been deployed with guns to intimidate us. They’re ready to suppress any voice of dissent. Maybe they’ll even arrest us.”
Ashok alleged that the CM and Deputy CM were busy with PR events even as tragedy unfolded. “The CM and DCM were holding a promotional event for RCB inside the Vidhana Soudha with whiskey bottles in their hands, while innocent people were dying. This is shameful,” he said, ridiculing the government’s priorities.
Ashok also expressed outrage over the suspension of Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand. “Who will protect the police now? We stand with the police. They had no role in the tragedy. The Vidhana Soudha DCP had clearly written in a report that there wasn’t enough police staff for the event,” he noted.

He questioned the legality of the RCB victory celebration: “If a police officer refused to approve the event, under what law was the event conducted? How did it happen at all?” he asked.
Ashok didn’t hold back his criticism of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “The CM says no one informed him about the deaths. Did your officers eat mud? News was flashing across all TV channels every minute. How could you not know?” he asked, demanding accountability.
“The only way the souls of those who died can find peace is if this government is thrown out,” he said.
