PSI Recruitment Scam; Re-Investigation Of Cases By New Government
The ruling Congress will re-investigate the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam in the state.More than 30 accused including ADGP rank officer have already been arrested in connection with this case. In a meeting with the police officers on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar made a special mention about the scam and attacked the department.Cabinet Minister MB Patil has said that the Congress government will investigate all the scams that took place during the previous BJP government.Alleging that many prominent BJP leaders were involved in the scam, Congress leaders had vehemently demanded the resignation of former Home Minister AragGyanendra. Former Minister Dr CNAswat accused Narayana of corruption. He indirectly referred to the role of former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa's son BJP MLA BY Vijayendra. ADGP Amrit Pal, who was arrested long ago, is still in jail. He said that while the investigation is at this stage, BJP's powerful politicians are involved and the investigation will continue. The investigating agency has already submitted two charge sheets to the court in connection with the scam. The case is still under investigation. The Congress leadership has stepped up the investigation to bring out the wrongdoings of the BJP leaders.
54,041 candidates appeared for the PSI exam. Minister PriyankKharge had alleged that out of 545 candidates, more than 300 candidates had given bribes of Rs 70 to 80 lakh to officials and ministers to become PSIs.The then ruling BJP had challenged the Congress to provide evidence before the CID.
