Power cut in several areas on Sunday for maintenance work, says BESCOM
Several parts of Bengaluru will face a planned power outage on Sunday, June 29, as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) carries out its scheduled quarterly maintenance and infrastructure upgrade works. According to BESCOM officials, the power supply will be interrupted from 10 AM to 5 PM, although there may be slight changes in the timings depending on local conditions and the nature of the work.
BESCOM has clarified that the planned shutdown will mainly affect areas under the 66/11 kV A Station limits. The maintenance has been scheduled specifically for the weekend, when the overall load on the power grid is considerably lower. This, officials say, is to ensure that offices and essential weekday operations remain unaffected by the disruption.
The areas that will be impacted include major localities such as Seshadri Road, Kurubara Sangha Circle 1st Main Road, Gandhinagar 1st and 2nd Cross, Crescent Road, Seshadripuram, Vinayaka Circle, Kempegowda Road, Tank Bund Road, Subedar Chatram Road, Lakshmanpuri Slum Area, Kabbanpete, Chalukya Circle, C.C. High Grounds, Malleshwaram, and several surrounding pockets in Seshadripuram.
Officials pointed out that such outages are necessary to ensure safe and uninterrupted supply in the long run. These shutdowns allow BESCOM and KPTCL to carry out crucial tasks such as tree trimming, shifting overhead cables underground, repairing or replacing high-tension lines, reconductoring works, RMU servicing, and various system upgrades.
