Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen engaging in a warm conversation with veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag during a high tea hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, following the Padma Awards ceremony. The candid moment between the two quickly went viral on social media, sparking admiration and pride among Kannada film fans.

The high tea event took place on May 27, after President Murmu honoured 68 achievers from across India at the Padma Awards ceremony. Among the recipients were Anant Nag, Grammy-winning musician Ricky Kej, policy expert Prashant Prakash, and agriculturalist Venkappa Ambaji Sugatekar.

Anant Nag was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his significant contributions to Indian cinema. A respected and versatile actor in the Kannada film industry for over five decades, his national recognition and friendly exchange with the Prime Minister was hailed as a proud moment for Kannada cinema.

Earlier, Anant Nag dedicated the Padma Bhushan to the people of Karnataka, saying, “I accept this award on behalf of all Kannadigas.”

The acknowledgment of artists like Anant Nag at the national level is seen as a milestone for regional cinema and a celebration of Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage.
