Namma Metro tickets now on 9 apps via ONDC
In a major move to improve commuter convenience, Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has partnered with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to enable QR-code ticket booking through nine popular travel apps. Until now, passengers could only use the official Namma Metro app, Paytm, or BMRCL’s WhatsApp chatbot. With this update, commuters can now book their entire journey — including autos, cabs, and metro — through a single platform.
This integration supports door-to-door travel by combining multiple transport modes in one app. Once a metro ride is booked, a QR code is instantly generated. Commuters simply scan it at the station gate for easy, paperless entry. This reduces queue times, enables contactless travel, and promotes a greener commute.
BMRCL Managing Director Maheshwar Rao called the development a key step toward better urban mobility. He said it supports first-, middle-, and last-mile connectivity, making public transport more user-friendly and efficient.
As Bengaluru faces rising traffic challenges, this initiative is expected to increase metro ridership by offering greater convenience. For users of apps like Rapido, Redbus, and others now connected to ONDC, adding a metro ticket is just a tap away.
By embracing digital ticketing, Namma Metro moves closer to Bengaluru’s smart city vision — where technology and transport work together to create a smoother, more connected urban experience for everyone.
