Minor girl murdered inside Bengaluru home

A 14-year-old girl was found brutally murdered at her residence in Tavarekere, Bengaluru South district, on Monday. The victim, a sixth-grade student, had remained at home while her parents — daily wage labourers from Koppal — were away at a construction site.

According to police sources, preliminary investigations suggest that unidentified individuals gained entry into the house and attacked the girl with sharp weapons, inflicting multiple injuries. Her body was discovered by her parents when they returned home in the evening.

Authorities have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the condition of the body suggests the possibility of sexual assault, though confirmation awaits the results of the post-mortem examination. R. Srinivas Gowda, Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara district, stated that a detailed investigation is underway. “We are waiting for the autopsy report to understand the full scope of the crime. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace the culprits,” he said.

The murder has sparked fear and outrage in the local community, with residents demanding increased security and swifter justice. Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage, questioning locals, and working on identifying suspects who may have known the girl or her family. This tragic incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of minors left alone at home, especially in vulnerable communities. The police have urged parents and neighbours to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities without delay.
