A major fire broke out at an oil warehouse near Adakamaranahalli, close to Nelamangala, in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit.

The warehouse, which was leased to Shell Company, was engulfed in flames around 3:00 AM. Over eight fire and emergency response teams from Nelamangala, Peenya, and Yeshwanthpur areas were deployed to contain the blaze.

The fire occurred within the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli Police Station, and its intensity continued to increase throughout the early hours. Authorities have expressed concern that the fire might spread to neighboring warehouses and residential properties.

Preliminary estimates suggest that oil worth around ₹30 crore may have been destroyed in the fire. The warehouse, spanning 40,000 square feet, has reportedly been completely gutted.

The company had stockpiled large quantities of oil in anticipation of a possible escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan. This proactive storage was part of contingency planning to avoid supply disruptions in the state. Unfortunately, the fire incident has resulted in significant loss of the stored oil.

The warehouse belongs to Krishnappa, son-in-law of former Revenue Minister H.C. Srikantaiah, and had been rented to Shell Company for operations.
