Major scam in Bengaluru waste management: Four contractors under scanner
A large-scale fraud in solid waste management within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has come to light, prompting an investigation ordered by Dr. Harish, CEO of Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Company Ltd (BSWMCL).
The probe follows allegations that four contractors misappropriated hundreds of crores through illegal contracts and fake documentation.
In Ward 139 (KR Market, excluding the main market), contractor Srinivas Reddy of M/S Lava Kusha Transport concealed the cancellation of his work order. Despite this, he continues waste management operations in Wards 162 (Girinagar) and 164 (Vidyapeetha) without proper RFID records, submitting inflated bills to the BBMP.
Similarly, in Ward 183 (Chikkallasandra), contractor Ravi Naidu of M/S Vision Man Power Pvt. Ltd., whose previous contract for Ward 161 (Hosakerehalli) was canceled in 2014, has allegedly manipulated records since April 26, 2021, defrauding BBMP of over ₹2 crore. In Jayanagar, A.L.
Satish Kumar of M/S SPT Enterprises is accused of fabricating documents, siphoning ₹5 crore monthly. Meanwhile, in Bommanahalli, Rupesh Kumar of M/S Annapoorneshwari Associates allegedly secured contracts illegally in five wards and received ₹140 crore for landfill transportation without RFID verification.
To address these allegations, Karnataka Municipal Administration Service officer Ramamani V.K. has been appointed as the chief investigator, tasked with submitting a detailed report to the BBMP Commissioner within seven days.
