Commuters urge railway authorities to ensure timely arrival of Bengaluru–Kannur Express

The Bengaluru–Kannur Express train (16511) has been arriving late for the past several days, causing severe inconvenience to daily commuters. Taking note of this, the West Coast Railway Passenger Development Committee has written to the Divisional Railway Manager of the South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division, urging immediate action to ensure that the train runs as per its scheduled time.

The committee pointed out that the train, which travels via the Hassan–Kunigal route, is a crucial mode of transport for many passengers from the coastal region as it reaches Bengaluru in comparatively less time. Its schedule is particularly convenient for students and office-goers who rely on it for local and long-distance travel.

In its letter, the committee stated that while a recent landslide near Edakumeri had caused delays for a few days, the issue has now been resolved. Moreover, with the Yeshvantpur–Mangaluru Express currently cancelled due to track electrification work, a large number of passengers have shifted to the Bengaluru–Kannur Express.

Committee president Hanumanth Kamath stressed in the letter that authorities must take necessary steps to ensure that the train reaches Mangaluru on time, thereby providing relief to regular passengers who depend on its punctual service.
