Lokayukta submits 11,000-page final report
Bengaluru
On Thursday, the 11,000-page report was presented before the Special Court for criminal cases related to MPs/MLAs in Bengaluru. This comes a day after the official announcement clearing Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of any wrongdoing in the case. The allegations involve the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) allotting 14 sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi B M.
An FIR was registered on September 27 following a complaint by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna. The case involved Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law B M Mallikarjun Swamy, and Devaraju, from whom Swamy had purchased land and later gifted it to Parvathi.
After investigation, the Lokayukta police stated in a notice to the complainant that there was no evidence against the first four accused. They categorized the case as civil in nature and not fit for criminal proceedings. The complainant has been given a week to challenge the report before the magistrate.
However, the investigation will continue into the broader 50:50 site allotment scheme by MUDA between 2016 and 2024, with an additional final report to be submitted as per Section 173(8) of the CrPC. Parvathi had already requested MUDA to cancel the 14 allotted sites, and her request was accepted following public controversy.
