Lokayukta raids homes of three officials
The Karnataka Lokayukta conducted coordinated raids Wednesday on the homes of three senior Bengaluru officials—IAS Vasanthi Amar, BBMP Executive Engineer Errappa Reddy, and Town Planning Assistant Director Bagli Maruthi.
The Karnataka Lokayukta on Wednesday raided the homes of three senior government officials in Bengaluru, suspecting them of possessing wealth disproportionate to their income and illegally transferring government land.
The raids were conducted at the residences of IAS officer Vasanthi Amar, BBMP Executive Engineer Errappa Reddy, and Town Planning Assistant Director Bagli Maruthi. The operation, led by SP Vamshikrishna, included searches in localities like RT Nagar.
All three are suspected of holding assets beyond known income. They are also under scrutiny for illegal land transfers. Notably, Errappa Reddy was recently caught red-handed accepting a Rs 10 lakh bribe.
The Lokayukta is reviewing documents and property records seized during the searches. These raids are part of a larger anti-corruption drive. In June 2025, similar raids at 45 locations across Karnataka uncovered assets worth over Rs 34.90 crore from eight officials.
Earlier, in April and March 2025, raids were conducted in Ballari, Bengaluru, Kolar, Kalaburagi, and other districts. Seized assets included luxury cars, gold, and real estate, as the agency intensified its crackdown on corruption within the state bureaucracy.
