Landslide on National Highway 75, MP Shreyas Patel visits spot
HASSAN
MP Shreyas Patel, who visited and inspected the landslide-hit areas on National Highway 75, instructed the officials to take precautionary measures to ensure smooth traffic and to avoid inconvenience to the public.
Landslides are the biggest challenge for the two-km road work. Soil has collapsed at some places where barriers have been erected, and NHAI officials have been instructed to take precautionary measures and manage the work responsibly.
This time too, there has been a landslide. However, he said that since precautionary measures were taken last time, there are still some landslides in Anemahal and other places, so the authorities will take precautionary measures.
“When we visited last time and now, a lot of work was done. The soil is very moist in places, which is causing subsidence. We will make way for road traffic on the right side of the highway. Overall, we will ensure that there is no problem with traffic for the public,” he said.
He has met the Union Transport Minister and has prepared a scientific plan worth Rs 13 crore. Tenders have already been called. He said that an agency has also been fixed for turfing work on the West Bengal model, adding that the work will be completed by the next monsoon. He assured that there will be no further landslides.
“We are ready to take precautionary measures to ensure that no lives are lost. There is no compromise on the work. If any shoddy work has been done, action will be taken after checking the authenticity of the work,” he added. The MP said that all the officers have already been directed to remain at the centre till the end of the rainy season.
