K’taka Congress Collected Evidence of Poll Irregularities, Rahul to Present Findings: D K Shivakumar
Bengaluru
Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday said that the Karnataka Congress has gathered substantial evidence of election malpractice, which will be presented by Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Bengaluru on August 5.
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said the KPCC research wing has conducted an extensive probe into alleged electoral irregularities and submitted their findings to Rahul Gandhi. “He has more details and will explain everything. It was our team that brought these illegalities to his attention,” he stated.
Shivakumar said all Congress MLAs, block-level leaders, and ministers have been invited to attend the August 5 event. AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala will also be in Bengaluru for preparatory meetings with office-bearers.
He added that the focus would be on exposing alleged vote theft, particularly in constituencies like Mahadevapura, where Congress candidate H. Nagesh had raised complaints about voter list tampering during the 2023 Assembly polls. Despite his defeat, Shivakumar noted that the Congress had won most other seats in the area.
He accused the BJP of misusing organisations like Chilume to tamper with electoral rolls and claimed that fake Election Commission IDs were used by BJP workers, severely affecting voter turnout in Bengaluru.
“We want to make people aware of how their votes and rights are being compromised,” he said, urging Congress leaders to highlight the injustices committed by the Election Commission and mobilize support for electoral reform.
