KSCA under fresh trouble as BBMP plans to recover ₹10 crore

Even as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) reels under the ongoing CID investigation into the stampede during RCB’s victory parade at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium—which claimed 11 lives—it is now facing fresh trouble from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
The civic body is preparing to issue a fresh notice to KSCA to recover over ₹10 crore in pending advertisement taxes. BBMP officials say the cricket body has been displaying commercial advertisements around the stadium premises for several years without clearing dues.
According to sources, BBMP had previously issued multiple notices to KSCA citing violations of advertising regulations, but the association reportedly failed to pay up. With the Chinnaswamy Stadium under the spotlight due to the tragic stampede, the BBMP now plans to act firmly by serving another notice and possibly initiating penal proceedings.
The civic body has also indicated that legal action may follow if the dues are not settled promptly, including the imposition of fines and other enforcement measures. BBMP officials say KSCA’s actions amount to a breach of municipal advertisement guidelines, and the time has come to enforce recovery.
The KSCA is already facing intense scrutiny following the June 4 stampede that occurred during the RCB’s celebratory event, for which they were the primary organisers. The incident has not only attracted a CID probe but has also led to widespread public criticism and political backlash.
With the civic agency now tightening its grip, the cricket body appears to be under mounting pressure—from both law enforcement and administrative quarters. Whether KSCA will clear its long-pending dues or face further legal consequences remains to be seen.
