Kolar: Karnataka's Food Minister and former Union Minister K.H. Muniyappa has urged Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna to expedite the long-stalled railway coach factory.

A formal request to approve and implement the project that was first proposed during his tenure as Union project in Kolar district.

During a high-level review meeting led by Somanna at Kumara Krupa in Bengaluru on Saturday, Muniyappa submitted Railway Minister.

“This coach factory has been my long-standing dream. It was first announced in the 2011–12 railway budget and needs to be revived. Once operational, the factory will significantly benefit this region and bring national recognition to South India for coach manufacturing,” said Muniyappa.

He pointed out that the project requires around 1,200 acres of land, of which 700 acres have already been earmarked by the government. He requested swift acquisition of the remaining 500 acres to begin construction.

Muniyappa also pushed for the implementation of two other key railway lines:

· Kolar–Whitefield direct rail link

· Kadapa–Madanapalle–KGF railway route

Speaking to the media later, Muniyappa emphasized that development projects should be framed with a 50-year vision. He added that while building ring roads, priority must be given to preserving agricultural and irrigated land, and road alignments should avoid disrupting rural habitations. "Even if the road has to take a 5–6 km detour, it should be done to minimize public inconvenience," he advised.
