In a significant move to bolster national counter-terrorism readiness, the Karnataka State Police and the Indian Army's Garud Commando Force (4/8 Gorkha Rifles anti-terrorism task force) conducted a joint mock drill on Saturday

According to officials, the exercise, led by the Thiruvananthapuram Brigade, took place at an undisclosed high-security location in Bengaluru, maintaining strict confidentiality in line with security protocols. This marks the first time both forces have conducted a mock drill together under a unified operation.

The mock drill was carried out as part of the "Operation Abhyas" civil defense exercise, under the Garrison Commander of the Banaswadi Military Garrison. Key departmental personnel participated, including the State Police, Traffic Police, Bomb Disposal Squad, Fire and Emergency Services, and the District Medical Health team, as stated in a defense public relations officer's press release.

The exercise aimed to synchronize, coordinate, and integrate the response of all concerned departments to terrorist threats, particularly in complex urban environments. A senior official, commenting on the drill, expressed that it was "heartening to witness the unity and seamless coordination between the armed forces and civil agencies in the fight against terrorism." He added, "Today's mock drill reiterates our collective readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to any form of attack."
