Karnataka orders probe in Honey Trap cases
Bengaluru
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has ordered a high-level probe into an alleged honey trap attempt on a state minister. The announcement was made during the budget session in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
The issue came to light when Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna alleged that he was targeted and called for an investigation. Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal raised the matter in the Assembly, stating, "This is a bad culture. People's representatives are being blackmailed."
Rajanna responded by acknowledging the claims. "Many people say Karnataka has become a CD and pen drive factory. This is a serious allegation," he said. He further stated that 48 people across different political parties had been honey-trapped. "They belong to two different parties. This issue extends beyond our state to the national level. I will file a written complaint to the Home Minister. The public must know who is behind this," he added.
Parameshwara assured that the issue would be taken seriously. "If Rajanna submits a written request, I will order a high-level investigation," he said.
Raja Rajeshwarinagar BJP MLA Munirathna became emotional in the Assembly, calling for a CBI inquiry into the rape case against him. He claimed the case was falsely filed to ruin his life. Holding deity photos, he challenged anyone to swear that he had committed the crime.
