Karnataka leaders pay tribute to Babu Jagjivan ram on his 118th birth anniversary
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar paid floral tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion of his 118th birth anniversary. The tribute ceremony was held with great respect and reverence to honor the contributions of the legendary leader who played a vital role in India’s freedom movement and post-independence governance.
The event saw the presence of several prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G. Parameshwara, and senior Congress leader K.H. Muniyappa. H.C. Mahadevappa and Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh were also among those who attended the tribute.
Speaking at the occasion, D.K. Shivakumar highlighted Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram’s commitment to social justice, equality, and upliftment of the underprivileged. He said that Jagjivan Ram’s work and ideology continue to inspire generations of leaders and citizens across the nation. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recalled Jagjivan Ram’s immense contribution in shaping modern India and serving the country in various capacities, including as Defence Minister during the 1971 war.
He emphasized the importance of remembering such leaders whose values and principles laid the foundation for an inclusive and democratic India. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence in memory of the great leader, followed by the garlanding of his statue. The event was organized by the state government to pay homage and educate the younger generation about Jagjivan Ram’s life and legacy.
