Kannada slogans to adorn Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha; public invited to contribute
In a bid to promote Kannada language and culture at the very heart of Karnataka's political and administrative power centres, the Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has announced a unique initiative to install Kannada-themed slogans on the buildings of Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha.
The campaign is aimed at invoking a sense of pride and cultural belonging among the public—especially visitors from across the state and outside—who frequent these iconic buildings.
KDA Chairman Purushothama Bilimale stated that the authority is inviting the public to submit meaningful slogans that reflect the spirit of Kannada and Karnataka. These can include not only literary expressions, but also proverbs, slogans from social movements, and lyrics from Kannada cinema that are culturally and contextually appropriate.
However, submissions with pessimistic tones or controversial content will be strictly rejected. Each slogan must be limited to a maximum of two lines and must include the author’s name. Suggestions should be emailed to chairman.kanpra@gmail.com no later than June 30. Contributors must also provide their name, contact number, and postal address.
The KDA hopes this participatory model will help create a stronger emotional connection between the Kannada language and the administrative nerve centres of the state.
