In a scathing press conference at the Vidhana Soudha, JDS MLC T.A. Sharavana held the state government squarely responsible for the tragic stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium, calling it a “state-sponsored massacre” that led to the deaths of 11 people during the RCB victory celebration.

Sharavana alleged complete administrative collapse in Karnataka, questioning why such a large-scale event was organized hastily, despite visible risks. “Even when India won the Champions Trophy, celebrations were managed cautiously. Why not now?” he asked.

He accused Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of publicly inviting people to the event, ignoring police warnings. “If the DCM didn’t know the risks, what moral right does he have to stay in office?” Sharavana questioned. He further demanded the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister, DCM, and Home Minister, citing administrative negligence and failure to ensure public safety.

“This is not an accident, it’s a massacre,” Sharavana declared. “No amount of compensation can bring back the lives lost. And when we question them, Congress leaders divert attention by comparing this to the Kumbh Mela. This is misgovernance at its peak.”

Sharavana also accused the Congress government of sidelining honest officials while shielding the guilty. Drawing comparisons to Telangana, he said, “When actor Allu Arjun was arrested swiftly there, why no one is held accountable here?”

He concluded with a sharp rebuke: “If the government didn't authorize the event, why did the DCM attend with his grandchildren? What was meant to be a celebration turned into a funeral.”
