JDS leads Bengaluru tree plantation drive
In celebration of World Environment Day, the Janata Dal (Secular) party organized a massive sapling plantation and distribution drive in Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency under the slogan “Let’s plant a sapling and nurture it into a tree.” The event took place at Chamundi Playground in T Block, Jayanagar.
Former MLA and Bengaluru City JDS President H.M. Ramesh Gowda inaugurated the event by planting a sapling. Thousands of saplings were distributed to the public during the program. Over 2,500 saplings were planted on the spot, with the responsibility of nurturing them for the next six months undertaken by city-level party workers.
Speaking at the event, Ramesh Gowda expressed concern over the rising air pollution and vehicular congestion in Bengaluru. He emphasized that the city is facing a serious shortage of clean air and that in the future, access to fresh air may become one of the greatest challenges. He urged citizens to contribute by planting and nurturing more trees to help restore environmental balance.
