IPL 2025: RCB mania has black market booming in Bengaluru

Tickets for RCB vs Delhi Capitals tie on Thursday was selling at two to three times more than the official price. With RCB winning three matches it had pushed up the demand for the tickets for the home encounter.
R. Gokul an avid RCB fan said ``the cheapest tickets, of Rs 2,300 face value, were being sold between Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 at Cubbon Park and Rs 7,000 to Rs 7,500 in front of the stadium. The VIP lounge ticket priced at Rs 10,890 was going for at least Rs 20,000.
Students and others who had bought the tickets online made a killing on Thursday. Even with plain clothes policemen of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police posted in and around M Chinnaswamy stadium, the black marketers moved their venue in front of Koshy’s, Lavelle Road, Church Street and Vittal Mallya Road.
Some of those selling tickets in the black market gave away the tickets on the spot while others shared their mobile numbers and asked the buyers to meet them at a designated spot near the stadium.
``I just bought a ticket for Rs.8, 000 and the seller showed me the photograph of the ticket on his phone screen as a proof that he had the ticket and after haggling for the price he asked me to wait, he then made a call and another man walked in with the actual ticket and I made the digital payment and got my ticket’’ said Avinash Gowda.
``Tickets for the first four home matches in Bengaluru have already been sold out, the basic Rs. 2,300 ticket is now selling at Rs.7, 000 in the black market. Tickets are being hoarded by black marketers and sold for a killing’’ an avid RCB fan familiar with the black market operations in the city told City Hilights.
