Historic temple seized by Muzrai department

The Muzrai Department has officially taken over the administration of the historic Gali Anjaneya Swamy Temple located on Mysuru Road in Bengaluru. Two days after assuming control, department officials today sealed the temple treasury and locker. A notice was affixed on the locker prohibiting unauthorized access, and officials locked it before leaving the premises. The department clarified that under no circumstances can the treasury or locker be opened without proper government authorization. Government-appointed staff have already begun their duties within the temple premises, marking the complete transition of control to the Muzrai Department despite ongoing opposition.

The temple’s takeover has sparked strong resistance from the temple’s management and local devotees. In response, the temple administration has announced its intent to initiate legal proceedings to challenge the department’s decision. Supporters of the temple, including many devotees, are standing in solidarity with the management. Sources reveal that discussions are underway to organize a large public meeting on Monday to protest against the government’s action.

The Gali Anjaneya Swamy Temple, known for its historical and spiritual significance, has long been managed by a private trust. The abrupt takeover has raised concerns among devotees about the preservation of the temple’s traditional management practices and autonomy.
