Heightened security in Bengaluru amid india-pakistan tensions

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Karnataka government has strengthened security around reservoirs and power plants under Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL). Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that police officials are taking necessary measures to secure Bengaluru and assured that citizens would be informed promptly if needed. Speaking to the media, Shivakumar confirmed that all dams across the state have been secured as a precautionary step. “Tourists are prohibited near dams, and only technical personnel are allowed. This is a national issue, and public cooperation is essential,” he emphasized.

Addressing additional civic concerns, Shivakumar mentioned plans to tackle sewage and waste management with assistance from the central government and the World Bank. He noted that past irregularities in waste disposal had been investigated, and tenders for new management initiatives are now approved. Future plans include improving sewage treatment, potable water supply, power distribution, and transport infrastructure in Bengaluru. On the Nelamangala water project protests, Shivakumar argued that the opposition was politically motivated rather than farmer-led. He defended the initiative, stating it would enhance groundwater levels and supply treated water, similar to benefits seen in Kolar.

Meanwhile, additional security measures are in place at the Kempegowda International Airport, and citizens are advised to arrive three hours prior to flights. The Deputy CM assured that the government remains committed to ensuring public safety and critical infrastructure security during these challenging times.
