Hebbal junction to see traffic relief, reserved lanes to be completed by May 2025
Hebbal Junction, one of Bengaluru’s most congested areas, is set to get some relief. The heavy traffic during peak hours, often leading to long waiting times, will soon ease as the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) has taken up the construction of two reserved lanes connecting KR Puram to Hebbal. The Karnataka government has set a deadline for the project to be completed within four months, with the aim to reduce traffic delays. The new lanes will separate airport-bound traffic from other vehicles, addressing the ongoing congestion at the junction. With these lanes, traffic flow will improve, and connectivity to key parts of the city, including the Outer Ring Road and KR Puram’s IT corridor, will become more convenient. Additionally, the project will enhance the link to Kempegowda International Airport, making access smoother for all commuters. However, the construction of these lanes requires the removal of two spans from the KR Puram loop, which may temporarily cause traffic disruptions. Despite these challenges, authorities are confident that the project will be completed as planned, bringing much-needed relief to the busy junction by May 2025. The project, which also involves the installation of steel girders for a new bridge, is expected to enhance the overall infrastructure of the city. Once completed, the project will not only reduce traffic congestion but also contribute to the growth of Bengaluru’s already booming economy by improving access to key commercial hubs.
