Gold, cash looted in Bagalgunte burglary
A major burglary has been reported from MEI Layout in Bagalgunte, Bengaluru, where cash and gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees were stolen from a locked residence. The incident came to light recently and has raised concerns among residents over growing property-related crimes in the locality.
The theft occurred at the house of Padma, a resident of Bagalgunte. According to the police, Padma had locked her house before leaving for work and had left the key near a window — a practice reportedly followed regularly. Taking advantage of the situation, unidentified burglars entered the house by breaking open the main door.
Once inside, they broke the lock of the bedroom cupboard and stole ₹30,000 in cash and 50 grams of gold ornaments, valued at approximately ₹5 lakh. The incident was discovered when the owner returned home later in the day and found the house ransacked.
A case has been registered at the Bagalgunte Police Station, and a special investigation team has been formed to trace the culprits. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and questioning locals for any leads that could assist in the investigation. Residents in the area have been urged to take extra security precautions and avoid leaving keys in unsecured places. Authorities have also asked the public to report any suspicious movement immediately. The police have assured that all efforts are being made to apprehend those responsible and recover the stolen items.
