Four killed, including two children, in horrific road accident near Hoskote
Hoskote
In a tragic road accident that occurred early Friday morning near Gottipura Gate in Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district, four people—including two children—lost their lives when a private lorry collided with an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus.
The APSRTC bus was travelling from Tirupati to Bengaluru on the Kolar–Hoskote National Highway when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely mangled, leaving passengers trapped inside.
The deceased have been identified as Keshava Reddy (44), Tulasi (21), Pranati (4), and a one-year-old infant. All of them were travelling in the ill-fated bus. According to police reports, sixteen other passengers were injured in the accident, two of whom are said to be in critical condition. They are currently receiving treatment at Silicon City Hospital in Hoskote.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident happened while the bus was attempting to overtake a vehicle in front. It is believed that the driver, possibly drowsy at the time, misjudged the maneuver and ended up ramming into a lorry ahead.
“The bus was trying to overtake the lorry when the driver lost control and collided with it from behind. Due to the high speed and drowsiness of the driver, the bus crumpled on impact,” said an officer from Hoskote Traffic Police Station, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.
Emergency services rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation to extract the passengers stuck inside the mangled bus. Local residents also lent a hand in rescuing the injured before ambulances arrived.
