Foundation stone laid for academic and research buildings at Bengaluru University
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and MLA Munirathna participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for new academic and research buildings at Jnana Bharathi, Bengaluru University. The event, held under the Prime Minister’s Higher Education Campaign, marked a significant step toward advancing higher education infrastructure in the city. The ceremony, presided over by Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA Munirathna, saw the leaders performing the ‘Guddali Pooja’ (traditional groundbreaking ritual). Higher Education Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar was also present. The project aims to enhance research and academic facilities, providing better learning opportunities for students. Interestingly, the event gained political attention as it marked a rare moment of unity between D.K. Shivakumar and Munirathna, who have had political differences in the past. Their joint participation in the ceremony has sparked discussions in political circles. With the growing emphasis on educational development, these new buildings are expected to contribute significantly to higher education and research excellence in Karnataka. The new academic and research buildings at Bengaluru University are expected to be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, modern classrooms, and advanced laboratories. The project is designed to support innovative research and create a dynamic learning environment for students and faculty. Officials stated that these developments align with the government’s vision to strengthen Karnataka’s education sector. Additionally, the expansion is anticipated to attract more research scholars and foster collaborations with international institutions, boosting the university’s academic reputation.
