Five arrested for Bengaluru jewellery heist
The KR Puram police have arrested five individuals involved in a daring robbery at a jewellery store in Seegehalli, Bengaluru. The arrested suspects—Narayan Lal, Pushpendra Singh, Kirtan Ram, Mahendra Gehlot, and Dilip Kumar—are all natives of Rajasthan. Police have recovered 480 grams of gold jewellery worth approximately ₹50 lakh from the accused.
Narayan Lal, who supplied phenyl to homes and shops in KR Puram, had observed that Bhavani Jewellery in Seegehalli operated with just one owner and an employee. Sensing an opportunity, he collaborated with his friends in Rajasthan and Mahendra Gehlot, who worked at a retail store near Madanayakanahalli, to execute the robbery.
On May 9, around 4 p.m., the accused entered the jewellery store wearing masks. Brandishing a knife, they threatened the lone employee and looted gold chains weighing 480 grams. The entire operation was swift and calculated, according to police sources.
Following a complaint filed by the shop owner, the KR Puram police launched a detailed investigation. Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, a team was dispatched to Rajasthan. The suspects were eventually traced and arrested. The police commended the swift coordination between states in bringing the culprits to justice. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the gang was involved in other similar crimes. The accused are currently in judicial custody, and further interrogation is expected to shed more light on their network and planning.
