The Election Commission has today announced the final list of voters of Shivajinagar, Chickpet, Mahadevpura and assembly constituencies in Bengaluru, which had been widely accused of unnecessarily removing the names of voters from the voter list.

When the draft voter list was published on November 9, it was alleged that many names were omitted from the voter list. Also, it was alleged that Chilume, a private organization, had collected voter information. Various political parties had requested the Commission to re-incorporate the names of the voters who had been removed from the list.

In Shivajinagara constituency, 4037 voters were added while 828 voters were removed. In Chickpet constituency 3064 voters were added while 806 voters were dropped, while in Mahadevpura constituency the highest numbers of 10029 voters were added while 1776 voters were removed.

Out of a total of 17,130 voters, 3,410 voters have been removed from the list. 3,410 voters who have died, shifted, or returned have been removed from the voters' list, the state Chief Electoral Officer's office said in a release.

There are a total of 9,80,542 voters in the three constituencies. Among them there are 5,15,983 male, 4,64,415 female and 144 other voters. There were 9,66,816 voters in the draft list. In the final list, there are 1,94,937 voters in Shivajinagara constituency, 2,13,066 voters in Chickpet constituency and 5,72,539 voters in Mahadevpura constituency.
