The police have made significant progress in the case involving the armed robbery at a businessman's residence in HMT Layout, apprehending eight suspects in connection with the incident fifteen days after the daring heist. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to retrieve the stolen cash and jewelry from the arrested individuals. Reportedly, the apprehended men were taken into custody from different locations and are currently undergoing intensive interrogation. The incident unfolded on December 4 when six individuals, disguised in police uniforms, forcibly entered the residence of Manohar, the owner of SNR Poly Films, in HMT Layout. During the intrusion, Manohar was absent from the premises while his wife, Sujata, and son, Roopesh, were present. Initially, Sujata, assuming the men were involved in a police inquiry regarding ongoing family disputes, allowed them entry. However, the facade crumbled swiftly as the intruders revealed their true intent, wielding machetes and knives to intimidate and threaten Sujata and Roopesh. When Roopesh resisted, he faced an assault from the assailants. The gang then ransacked the house in search of cash and valuables, making off with a staggering Rs 60 lakh in cash and jewelry estimated at Rs 42 lakh before fleeing the scene. Roopesh sustained injuries and received medical treatment at a nearby hospital. Manohar subsequently filed a formal police complaint at the Peenya Police Station. In a bid to evade detection, the assailants also absconded with the digital video recorder linked to the house's CCTV system. The police, deploying multiple teams, successfully apprehended eight suspects linked to the crime. Presently, law enforcement officials are rigorously interrogating the detainees, endeavoring to recover the stolen cash and jewelry, crucial pieces of evidence that would aid in concluding the investigation.
