The Commercial Street police have arrested the accused who printed fake notes in a hotel room. The arrested accused is Krish Mali (23).

The accused, who had booked a room in a hotel in Tusker Town on June 1, had printed fake notes. Police said that he had also paid the bill using fake notes while checking out of the hotel on June 7.

Krish Mali, the son of a textile businessman, had booked a room in a hotel online after a fight over a trivial matter at home. The accused, who was thinking about how long he could borrow the money he had, thought of printing fake notes for that.

The accused, who had brought a printer and scanner in his bag, had photo copied fake notes of Rs 500 denomination while sitting in the hotel. Later, on June 7, while checking out of the hotel in the afternoon, he paid the bill of Rs 3,000 using fake notes. The same day, the civil servants told the hotel manager that some fake notes were found in the garbage collected from the hotel.

Some time after the accused checked out, the hotel staff became suspicious and checked the notes he had given and found that they were fake. Later, when they checked the room where he was staying, a bundle of white sheets and pieces of fake notes were found. Later, the hotel manager, Mohammad Sharif Uddin, filed a complaint with the Commercial Street police station.

The accused was arrested based on the address given in the Aadhaar card by the accused while renting the room and has been remanded in judicial custody. The police said that an investigation is underway to see if the accused had given such fake notes anywhere else.
