Education and Industry Must Collaborate to Equip Youth for the Global Stage: Governor Gehlot

Published on

Emphasizing the critical need for collaboration between education and industry, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, called on both sectors to join forces and equip India’s youth for global opportunities. Speaking at Pankh-2025: Building Bharat with Industry-Academia Collaboration (Bengaluru Edition), organized by the Bansal & LNCT Group, the Governor stressed the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands.

“Education and industry are two strong pillars—one nurtures knowledge, values, and skills, while the other drives productivity, innovation, and economic growth. When these two align, education becomes more practical, and the industry gains a skilled workforce,” said Gehlot, highlighting the powerful synergy that can drive national progress.

He pointed out that the global workforce is evolving, with increasing emphasis on creativity, digital fluency, critical thinking, and fields like AI, data science, and sustainable development. The Governor emphasized the importance of human values such as ethics, time management, and entrepreneurship in today's professional world.

Referring to rising unemployment among degree holders, he highlighted the “skill gap” between academic learning and the real-world needs of industries. To combat this, he proposed embedding practical elements such as internships, live case studies, and project-based learning into education systems.

Gehlot also advocated for formal partnerships between educational institutions and industries, enabling real-time exposure for students. He supported initiatives like the Skill India Mission, PMKVY, and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which foster skill development and internships.

Commending the efforts of the Bansal & LNCT Group, Gehlot concluded, “Pankh is more than just a program—it’s a movement to give wings to students and lay a strong foundation for India’s self-reliance.”
