To streamline property documentation, the Karnataka government and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have intensified the implementation of the e-Khata Mela initiative. BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has urged property owners to actively participate in the ongoing e-Khata camps being held across the city throughout the month.
Speaking during an inspection under the “Towards the Commissioner’s Zone” programme in Yelahanka, Rao emphasized the importance of public awareness. He directed officials to ensure smooth execution of the initiative and instructed them to assist citizens in securing their e-Khata documents efficiently. Four camps have been set up in the Yelahanka Assembly constituency alone.
Alongside local MLA Vishwanath, the Commissioner visited Yelahanka Lake to inspect maintenance, with instructions given for improving air circulation, vegetation nourishment, and lake cleanliness. He also visited the under-construction rajakaluve (stormwater drain) near Central Recreation Apartments and ordered swift completion of the project. During the inspection of the Nitte Meenakshi College road widening works, Rao noticed roadside parking congestion near Manipal and Nitte Colleges and instructed removal of the vehicles to ease traffic flow.
According to the e-Asset Portal, key documents required for e-Khata registration include proof of identity (Aadhaar, Passport, or Voter ID), a photograph of the property owner, sale deed or registered property documents, loan certificate if applicable, tax-paid receipts, and a recent photograph of the property. This digital documentation effort is expected to bring greater transparency and efficiency in property management for Bengaluru’s citizens.
