On Sunday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited the renowned Ghati Subramanya Swamy Temple in Bengaluru Rural district along with his wife and offered special prayers.

The visit, which held deep personal and spiritual significance for the leader, saw the participation of several local representatives and officials. Speaking to the media after the rituals, Shivakumar refrained from making political statements within the temple premises. I don’t wish to speak about politics in the presence of the deity, he stated. He expressed his long-standing desire to visit the temple, noting that friends had prayed to Lord Subramanya during his difficult times and that those prayers had been answered. I had wanted to come here for a long time, but it wasn’t possible. Today, I was determined to make it happen. I'm very happy to have participated in the puja, he added. He also recalled his previous connection with the temple, mentioning, Thirty years ago, I performed the Sarpa Samskara ritual here with my family. I’ve always maintained a spiritual bond with this place.

Talking about the temple’s future, he said, Our government, along with ministers K.H. Muniyappa and Ramalinga Reddy, has taken steps to develop this area. This place is set to become a major pilgrimage destination in the coming days. A temple is a space for the sacred connection between the devotee and the divine. When asked about the caste census report, Shivakumar responded cautiously, stating, The Chief Minister has already spoken. I haven’t seen the report yet as I was in Belagavi and Mangaluru recently. We will study it; it will be discussed in our cabinet.
