In a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. Rajkumar, the iconic actor and symbol of Kannada culture, a special ceremony was held to mark his 97th birth anniversary at the Sulocana Auditorium in Bengaluru.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including legislator Rizwan Arshad, who hailed Dr. Rajkumar as an unmatched figure in the Kannada film industry, praising his deep connection with the people of Karnataka.

Arshad noted that despite numerous stars and superstars emerging, none had reached the iconic status of Dr. Rajkumar. He emphasized that Dr. Rajkumar was a true representation of Kannada culture, not only through his acting but also by consistently voicing his support for the Kannada language, culture, and issues related to the state.

“He was not just an actor but a champion of Kannada identity,” Arshad remarked. Dr. Rajkumar’s son, actor Raghavendra Rajkumar, shared that his father had passed away in his prime, in good health and at a time when he had achieved much success.

He expressed that Dr. Rajkumar’s legacy still lives on in his thoughts and ideals. Veteran director S. Narayana recalled Dr. Rajkumar’s simple and grounded nature despite his enormous popularity. His contribution to protecting the Kannada film industry from the threat of dubbed films was invaluable, ensuring its growth and sustainability.

The ceremony also saw tributes from Karnataka Film Academy President Dr. Sadhu Kokila, who praised Dr. Rajkumar for his relentless dedication to the Kannada language and culture, with several other dignitaries present to honor his memory.
