DK Suresh elected Bamul board director

Former Congress MP and brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, D.K. Suresh, has been unanimously elected as a director of the Bangalore Milk Union Limited (Bamul) Board. With this appointment, he has once again assumed a significant leadership role. On Saturday, Suresh filed his nomination for the director post representing Kanakapura Taluk. As the nomination papers of other candidates were found invalid, he was elected unopposed. Suresh stated that he aims to contribute to the development of dairy farming in his taluk and work for the welfare of farmers.

Amid speculation of political strategy behind the move, Suresh clarified that his entry into the dairy sector is not politically motivated. “Regardless of any discussion, I will set aside politics and focus on transforming the milk production sector,” he said. He emphasized that his participation was based on local support and not for political rivalry.

Political analysts believe this move could be part of a broader strategy by the Shivakumar brothers to strengthen their influence, especially after their Lok Sabha setback. Suresh’s name had earlier surfaced for the KPCC president post and as a potential MLA candidate from Channapatna. There are also speculations that his selection as Bamul director could pave the way for his candidacy for the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) president post. However, other leaders, including Bhima Naik from Siddaramaiah’s camp, have shown interest in the same post, hinting at a potential factional clash.
