Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday claimed there is “credible evidence” of voter fraud in the Mahadevapura and Rajajinagar Assembly segments during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His statement comes ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s protest in Bengaluru scheduled for August 5.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Siddaramaiah said, “Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi has credible evidence of voter fraud... He will lead a protest in Bengaluru and meet the State Chief Electoral Officer.”

Deputy CM and state Congress president D K Shivakumar said Rahul’s protest venue would be decided after consultations with the AICC. He added that all party leaders have been asked to participate, with a block-level meeting set for August 3.

Shivakumar noted that discussions with the police and legal constraints were underway, and further details would be revealed by national leaders during the protest. Dismissing regional political focus, he said, “It’s not about Karnataka or Bihar. It’s about the sanctity of elections.”

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Election Commission “allowed cheating” in a Karnataka constituency and claimed to have “100 per cent proof.” He added, “I’m convinced this drama happened across constituencies. Thousands of new voters were added.”

The Congress party’s protest aims to bring national attention to what it alleges is a systematic subversion of electoral integrity in Karnataka.
