The Supreme Court has ordered the BBMP to hold an election in the next two weeks. The long-awaited and eagerly awaited BBMP election is soon to be finalized.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a stay order for corporations across the country. In Madhya Pradesh, the election was blocked due to confusion over the OBC Reservation issue. Use the already created committee for next term. The SC has instructed the SC / ST to hold an election in the general category and issue a notification within 2 weeks. The election will be held only for 198 BBMP wards.
BBMP Election in 198 wards
De-limitation has not been mandated by the government. The duo have filed an application seeking an election. Talking to the court, Minister R Ashok said, "We are ready for the BBMP election."
Appeal from the Government of Karnataka
Earlier, the Karnataka government had also appealed against the High Court's order to the State Election Commission to conduct an election for the 198 wards of the BBMP, calling for an emergency hearing. The Karnataka High Court on December 4, 2020 directed the Karnataka High Court to hold elections to the 198 wards within six weeks as per the notification dated September 23, 2020, instead of the 243 wards under the Karnataka Urban Policies Amendment Act (2020).
The state legislature then passed the High Court order and passed a resolution calling for 243 wards. The Supreme Court had appealed against the order of the High Court. In the wake of this appeal, the then CJI SA The Bobde-led bench prevented the election.
The government has not issued a de-limitation and hence the Supreme Court's decision will put pressure on the state government. The government will soon issue a de-limitation of the Raw Government. The election is going to be terrific.
The Supreme Court will issue a notification soon that the Cabinet reshuffle will fall. Ministers will be disappointed again. This time, we get a ministerial position, which is like a sprinkling of cold water to the desire of the enchanted ministers. CM Basavaraja Bommai has not yet had time to discuss the matter with the High Command. After the Supreme Order's election, it is said that the CM's Cabinet is going to shake up the Cabinet.
