The Department of Collegiate Education has issued a circular directing all government, aided, unaided First Grade Colleges, polytechnic, and engineering institutions across Karnataka to observe International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025.

Recognized globally by the United Nations, International Yoga Day celebrates yoga as a valuable gift of India’s ancient tradition. The department emphasized that yoga symbolizes the unity of mind and body and is a holistic approach to well-being. It plays a vital role at all levels—physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual—and is increasingly important for both present and future generations.

This year, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, will host a large-scale yoga event under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The program, titled “Yoga Sangam,” will take place from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM on June 21 and will follow the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). It is expected to be simultaneously conducted at over 1,00,000 locations across India. More information and registration details are available on the official website: https://yoga.ayush.gov.in/yoga-sangam. The department has urged colleges under its jurisdiction to organize awareness sessions, demonstrations, and activities to educate students about the importance and benefits of yoga. Institutions have been asked to take necessary steps to ensure active participation and successful celebration of International Yoga Day 2025.
