CM’s Media Sanjeevini Scheme: KUWJ Appeals to Ease Stringent Conditions
The Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association (KUWJ) has appealed to the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor, K.V. Prabhakar, to ease and simplify the stringent conditions of the Chief Minister's Media Sanjeevini Scheme.
A delegation led by KUWJ State President Shivananda Tagadur met Prabhakar at Vidhana Soudha and brought to his attention that many journalists are being left out of the scheme because it is currently limited only to accredited journalists and their families.
The KUWJ urged that the scheme be extended to all journalists working in newspapers and media outlets listed with the Department of Information and Public Relations. In response, K.V. Prabhakar responded positively and assured that the matter would be reviewed.
The delegation welcomed the government's move to launch the Media Sanjeevini Scheme on the occasion of Press Day and extended their congratulations to Prabhakar for the initiative.
The KUWJ also recalled that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced the scheme during the 39th State Journalists' Conference held in Tumakuru, responding to KUWJ’s long-standing demand for a free health scheme for journalists. He had not only made the announcement from the dais but also fulfilled the promise by including it in the state budget. KUWJ acknowledged the significant role played by media advisor K.V. Prabhakar in bringing the scheme to fruition.
N. Ravikumar and G. Mumtaz Aleem, members of KUWJ’s State Executive Committee, were also part of the delegation.
