City Corporation authorities conducted a raid in  shops   within the municipal limits and confiscated over one ton of prohibited plastic materials stored in plastic warehouses. The seized plastics were subsequently destroyed.

Neelalochan Prabhu, the City Commissioner, stated, “We have issued warnings to all shop owners and tenants in the city to refrain from using plastic. Despite multiple raids and confiscations of banned plastic, illegal sale and storage continue in the city.” He added that efforts to curb plastic use are ongoing, but illegal activities persist.

He emphasized that the ban on plastic is crucial due to its harmful impact on the environment and public health. “Understanding the adverse effects of plastic on nature, humans, and animals, we have taken steps to enforce the ban. It is unfortunate that some people show resistance to these efforts. Everyone must cooperate to build a cleaner and healthier Hosakote,” he urged.

During the raid, the confiscated plastics were cut into pieces on-site with the help of municipal workers using knives, rendering the materials unusable and unfit for sale.

Senior health inspectors Anjinappa, Shobha, Gajendra, Satish, Venkatesh, and Yashwanth were among those present during the operation.

The authorities' crackdown highlights ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal plastic sales in Hosakote, aiming to promote environmental sustainability and public health. Community cooperation is essential for building a cleaner Hosakote.
