Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced on Saturday that the Centre has sanctioned 4.68 lakh additional houses for economically weaker sections in Karnataka, bringing the total to 7.25 lakh houses. This includes the previously sanctioned 2.57 lakh houses approved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third-term commitment to provide 'Pucca' houses for every poor family in the state.

Chauhan, who holds the rural development, agriculture, and farmers' welfare portfolios, discussed the matter with Karnataka's rural development, revenue, and agriculture ministers. He emphasized the Centre's ongoing support for Karnataka, including a Rs 97 crore grant under the Border Area Development Scheme and additional funding for the agricultural mechanization scheme.

Chauhan urged the Karnataka government to complete the housing project promptly and ensure the timely utilization of funds, asking for the Utilization Certificate to be sent. He responded to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's claims of unequal fund distribution, asserting that the BJP focuses on development and public welfare, not blame games.
