Parappana Agrahara Central Prison is increasingly turning into a hub of illegal activity, with banned items being found in alarming quantities. Acting on specific intelligence, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted a surprise raid inside the prison on Monday, uncovering a large cache of contraband.

Over 50 CCB officials carried out a meticulous search operation between 11 AM and 2 PM on June 16, targeting the high-security Saja Bandhi and VIP barracks within the prison. The raid resulted in the seizure of several prohibited materials, including kasuri methi, beedi packets, ganja chillums, sharp objects, gutka and tobacco sachets, lime powder containers, personal diaries, knives, cash, mobile chargers, scissors, and iron rods.

The raid has once again raised serious questions about internal security lapses and the complicity of certain officials in facilitating the entry and use of banned items inside the prison.

Following the raid, CCB officers have registered an FIR and initiated a deeper probe into how such materials made their way inside a high-security facility. Investigations are expected to uncover possible insider involvement and systemic weaknesses that are being exploited.

The prison, already under scrutiny for past irregularities, now faces renewed pressure to implement stringent reforms and accountability mechanisms.
