CCB orders to submit daily CCTV from bars
In a move to curb rising violations in Bengaluru’s ladies bars, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has introduced a strict new regulation requiring establishments to submit daily CCTV footage to their respective jurisdictional police stations.
This decision follows repeated complaints and prior raids that exposed serious breaches of bar regulations, including incidents where women employees were found serving customers in inappropriate or revealing attire. Despite earlier warnings and enforcement drives, authorities found that many bars continued to ignore the rules.
To ensure better surveillance and accountability, the CCB has now mandated that all ladies bars must provide daily video recordings, either via pen drives or compact discs, to the local police station. Officials have made it clear that failure to comply or any irregularities spotted in the footage will attract stringent action under existing legal provisions. A senior officer from the CCB stated that this step is necessary, as previous raids and cautionary measures failed to bring lasting discipline. Bars found violating decorum or licensing terms may face suspension or legal penalties.
This regulation is part of a broader crackdown on nightlife venues across Bengaluru, aiming to uphold safety, legality, and professional standards in the hospitality industry. The directive has been communicated to all relevant establishments, and police stations have been instructed to maintain detailed logs of the submitted footage. The CCB has emphasized that this monitoring will be continuous and uncompromising. The new rule is expected to act as a deterrent and restore order in an industry often accused of disregarding norms.
