CCB crackdown on unauthorized foreign nationals
CH NEWS
In a major operation last week, the Narcotics Wing of the Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) conducted special drives in the Kengeri and Amruthahalli police limits, identifying and deporting two foreign nationals who were residing illegally in the city.
Additionally, ten more foreign nationals were found to be living without valid documentation in areas under Ramamurthynagar, Banaswadi, Parappana Agrahara, Soladevanahalli, and Varthur police limits. These individuals were presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and later sent to the Foreigners Detention Centre. As per Indian law, homeowners who rent out properties to foreign nationals are required to submit Form-C to the FRRO via the official portal (http://indianfrro.gov.in/frro/FormC/dummy1.jsp) within 24 hours of occupancy. They must also retain printed copies of the approved Form-C.
However, in these recent cases, landlords and property managers failed to obtain the necessary approvals and documentation. Consequently, five separate cases have been registered under the Foreigners Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Ramamurthynagar, Banaswadi, Parappana Agrahara, Soladevanahalli, and Varthur police stations. The CCB’s Narcotics Wing officials and personnel executed the operation effectively and are continuing efforts to ensure compliance with immigration regulations in the city. The authorities have also warned landlords to adhere strictly to registration protocols when renting to foreign nationals.
