BWSSB Confirms Cauvery Stage V Commissioning Despite Election Duties

Amidst election duties for Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) engineers, the commissioning of Cauvery Stage V remains on track for May, offering hope as a solution to Bengaluru's water crisis.

BWSSB has sought exemption from election duties for key engineers from the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Despite concerns regarding the potential impact of election duties on the project timeline, BWSSB assured that the commissioning of Cauvery Stage V would not be delayed.

Chairman of BWSSB, Ram Prasath Manohar V, affirmed, "The election duty won't affect the project work. We are on track for the commissioning of Cauvery Stage V by May." He outlined ongoing pipeline work between Harohalli and Vajarahalli, pending gap-closing tasks, and the need for hydro testing.

In a letter to the BBMP Chief Commissioner on March 6, BWSSB requested exemption for 9 engineers involved in the project. Emphasizing the critical role of these engineers in ensuring uninterrupted water supply and project progress, BWSSB highlighted the potential shortage of essential drinking water during summer elections. The Cauvery Stage V project entails establishing a water treatment plant at TK Halli, with pipelines extending to Vajarahalli, Eastern, and Western routes, aiming to address Bengaluru's water needs. Despite election duties, BWSSB remains committed to delivering this vital project to alleviate the city's water crisis.
