BMRCL denies yellow line launch on January 6
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has denied rumors circulating on social media about the yellow line of Namma Metro, from RV Road to Bommasandra, being launched on January 6, 2025. In a statement, BMRCL’s Chief Public Relations Officer clarified that while the first train set for the Yellow Line, manufactured by Titagarh Rail Systems in Kolkata, is scheduled for rollout on January 6, the actual opening of the Yellow Line for public use will happen later. This clarification came after multiple social media posts misled the public into believing that the line would be open to commuters on January 6. On Thursday, Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya posted an update on X, stating that despite delays in the Yellow Line’s operations, progress is being made. He mentioned that the delay was primarily due to issues with train availability, but the first train would finally be dispatched to Bengaluru on January 6. Surya also acknowledged the hard work to address roadblocks like visa issues for engineers and praised Titagarh Rail Systems for speeding up production. He confirmed that the second train would arrive by the end of January, with subsequent deliveries scheduled for February and April. Surya further stated that he had requested the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Minister to visit the manufacturing plant on January 6, to flag off the train and expedite the process. Despite frustrations over the repeated delays, Surya reassured the public that the Yellow Line’s operations would begin soon.
