Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) manages electricity distribution across Bengaluru and surrounding districts, covering 41,000 sq km. With frequent power cuts, many residents question meter accuracy, especially when electricity bills exceed expectations. Under the Karnataka Sakala Services Act, 2011 (Amendment 2014), BESCOM provides an online complaint system for meter-related issues. Customers can register complaints via:

24x7 Helpline: 1912

SMS: 58888

WhatsApp: 9449844640

Website: www.bescom.ipgrs.org

Email: helplinebescom@gmail.com

For meter accuracy checks, complaints must be addressed to the Assistant Executive Engineer. The issue should be resolved within seven working days. If not, consumers can escalate it to the Executive Engineer, who must respond within five days. A second appeal can be made if unresolved. For slow or faulty meter replacements, consumers follow the same process, with a maximum resolution time of ten working days. BESCOM assures that complaints filed through official channels will be addressed promptly. If the response is delayed or unsatisfactory, consumers have the right to escalate the matter. Consumers facing repeated issues with meter readings or billing discrepancies can also visit their nearest BESCOM office to file a written complaint. Keeping a record of past bills and meter readings can strengthen their case. If unsatisfied with BESCOM’s resolution, they can approach the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) for further assistance.
