A 33-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his live-in partner, Asha (40), after her body was found stuffed in a sack and dumped in a BBMP garbage truck. The incident took place in Chennammanakere Achukattu, Bengaluru, and came to light on Sunday when locals discovered the body and alerted the police.

According to police, Asha and the accused, a native of Assam, had been living together for over a year in a rented house. Both were employed as housekeeping staff through a private agency and had introduced themselves in the locality as husband and wife, though no legal marriage was confirmed.

Investigators said the couple had an argument on Saturday night after Asha returned home intoxicated. The heated exchange reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, during which she was allegedly suffocated to death. The man then wrapped her body in a sack and dumped it into a garbage truck during the early hours of Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Lokesh B Jagalasar, confirmed that a case of murder and destruction of evidence has been registered at the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station. The accused was taken into custody after interrogation.

Police further stated that Asha was a widow with two children, while the accused also had two children from a previous marriage. Both were divorced before they began cohabiting. The name of the accused has not been disclosed as investigations continue.Th ase has raised concerns over domestic violence in informal live-in arrangements in the city.
